Polk
County Public Library Presents
On
Aril 18, 2005 a special program was held at the Tryon Theatre
honoring Ms. Braun.

The cast - (or was it cats? -:) Earl Bettinger (the husband who)-reader,
Lesley Bush, accompanist, John Calure - reader, Carol Cox- singer, Andy
Millard - singer, Liz Norstrom - reader, Patti Peake-singer, Dean Trakus
- piano. Cynthia Terwilliger, Community Relations Specialist for the
Polk County Public Library served as the master of ceremonies. Welcoming
remarks were made by Mark Pumphrey, Director of the Polk County Public
Library.
ACT I
Welcome
We opened with "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" from
the Aristocats sung by Patti Peake and Carol Cox.
A Tribute from Neal Shine (publisher
of the Detroiit Free Press) was read by John Calure.
Dean Trakus played "Alley Cat".
Selected excerpts from The Cat
Who books were read by Liz Norstrom and John Calure.
Tit-Willow from the Mikado (the other Koko) was sung by Andy Millard.
Earl Betting (the husband who) brought down the house with a reading
of "The
Hero of Drumond Street" (Availalbe in The Cat Who Had 14 Tales ).
We distributed door prizes
and a had brief intermission where the packed house had an opportunity
to buy refreshments and visit.
ACT II
Dean Trakus played the "Theme
fron the Pink Panther".
Liz Norstrom and John Calure read tributes from Natalee
Rosenstein (Ms. Braun's editor) .and George
Guidall (the reader of the Cat Who series).
Patti Peake stopped the show with "Memories" from the musical
Cats.
Selected reading from critics were
read by Liz Norstrom and John Calure.
Koko and Yum Yum were introduced as
Polk County Public Library Official Mascots.
Andy Millard read a S'poem (sports poems) written by LBJ.
Andy sang "If Ever I Would Leave You" Earl and Lilian's favorite
song.
"The Ad-dressing of Cats" from Cats was sung by Patti and Carol.
A special message from Lilian
Jackson Braun was read by Cynthia Terwilliger.
Thanks and goodbyes
were said.
